A solid show at Ashburton with the following results:
We look forward to getting the juniors shorn and excited to see how they come back on the 2nd fleeces. For the older girls we look forward to their future babies!
NOV 2024
Not a bad day out at Ellesmere 19-Oct-24, highlighted by RD Marius getting Reserve Champion Senior Male, competing as a 43 month old in a class 24 months and over and therefore against mostly younger males. The only one to beat him was the similarly aged and 2-time National Champion, Shamarra Galactica. The comments Marius received in regards to his fineness and 'buttery' handle were very pleasing
In other results Dexter D won his class and received good comments while the 2 x junior male (RD Mr Prospector & RD Hermes) didn't quite get into the top-3 ribbons but we'll see how they progress next year and beyond as I really like both these boys.
OCT 2024
Exciting times ahead as we count down to Svens' first progeny.
We know they will be good, the question is just how good. Sven has outstanding fleece qualities, superbly backed up in the show ring, that he has maintained into his fourth fleece. His genetics and fleece qualities will be incorporated right throughout our herd.
Our first cria are due in January 2025 when all will be revealed!
AUG 2024
Her sire is Rustic Dawn Funky Music, her dam is Rustic Dawn Alaska. She is a result of show proven parents with quality genetics.
She is the standout of our cria drop and a big step forward in our continual development journey with dare I say it, merino-like qualities. It is such a shame there is no National Show this year as I believe she would be a genuine contender and we were prepared to make the journey to find out. However, we look forward to showing her locally later in the year.
AUG 2024
Rustic Dawn Marius has won SUPREME CHAMPION at the South Otago A&P, our last show for the season.
This is the second SUPREME for Marius this season after previous success at SI Colourbration earlier in the season. We look forward to him now commencing stud duties and producing cria with his wonderful fleece style.
We also had RD Dexter D in the Supreme line-up after taking out Intermediate Champion with RD Khonshu almost making it a clean sweep but having to settle for Reserve Champion Junior.
NOV 2023
While RD Sven was doing what he does best - winning Supremes - this guy was in the background going about his business - winning championships. Firstly as champion junior male at Winchester before stepping up an age group and taking out champion intermediate male at Mackenzie.
These are the only 2 shows he has attended and therefore remains unbeaten in his highly competitive white class. Without RD Sven in the field he may well hold a Supreme or 2.
His sire is RD Yahudi, our son of Algoma Chaska and Eskdale Izarra who just keeps throwing out champs. His dam is Rustic Dawn White Gold, a daughter of the very well performed and well related Awatere Gold Dust, who is developing her own dynasty here at Rustic Dawn.
MAY 2023Welcome to the latest addition to our ranks of SUPREME CHAMPION alpacas - Rustic Dawn Alaska. Scoring a massive 88.5pts with her intermediate fleece against a large field of almost 70 entries she is a deserving champion.
If ever we were to shear an alpaca twice in a year, she is the most likely candidate. She produces a massive fleece yet still retains quality fineness and style. With her massive density comes a rolling skin which may produce its own issues - something to be aware of if this is the direction we continue to head.
Her sire is BE Bronson and she is his second SUPREME along with RD Sven. Her dam is Awatere Juneau a broad ribbon female and closely related to some top alpacas.
